ABOUT OUR STAFF

Paul Harris has more than twenty years’ experience in the mining sector in investor relations, communications, research and news reporting roles. Paul has thirteen years’ experience in the Colombia gold sector including investor relations roles with Continental Gold, Gran Colombia Gold and Mineros. Paul founded the successful Colombia Gold Symposium in 2016 and has written for industry leading publication Mining Journal since 2015. Previously, Paul spent five years in Chile reporting and analysing the copper sector for CRU and Metal Bulletin. Along with Kormac Kennedy, Paul also helped launch
SiC & More in early 2003.
Paul received a BA in Business Administration from the University of the West of England, UK; and a MA in International Relations from the University of Chile, Santiago Chile. He is fluent in English and Spanish.

Kormac Kennedy has been a student of the industrial minerals business for over 40 years and brings a wealth of knowledge to Silicon Carbide & More. Kormac has followed numerous commodities through the years including silicon carbide, fused alumina, bauxite, carbon and graphite, alumina zirconia, garnet, sand, and ferroalloys as well as specific applications and markets such as bonded abrasives, refractory, photovoltaic, blasting/surface finishing, paper and cloth, metallurgy, foundry, steel, advanced ceramics, etc. Most recently, SiC & More began reporting on the metals associated with electric vehicle (EV) battery production. Paul and Kormac joined forces in 2003 thus combining their passions for bringing readers exciting news about industrial minerals.

Kormac Kennedy

Marissa Decklin has over 20 years of experience in writing, editing and end-use computer programs. She possesses a teaching degree and has a solid knowledge of design and visual principles. She also possesses several years of experience creating layout designs, tutorials and plans for print. Marissa is also blessed with extraordinary research skills and is a dedicated professional continually striving to raise the bar for quality in all of her works.

Daniel Charles also writes features for SiC & More but focuses on some of the more exotic markets and products including advanced ceramics, photovoltaics, and diesel particulate filters. Daniel has been involved with synthetic abrasives since the mid 1990s but has broadened his horizons in recent years. Daniel was recently charged with the task of reporting on SiC single crystal development and the respective applications. Readers can expect to hear more from Daniel in future issues of SiC & More.

Francisco has over 25 years of experience in the Brazilian electric sector where he has worked with utilities, trading companies, and renewable energy generation assets. Prior to that, Francisco worked at NationsBank Brazil (Bank of America) focusing on the Brazilian electric sector privatization process, M&A, and private equity investments. He has completed and participated in US$3.6 billion transactions including the privatization of CPFL, the largest utility of South America. In the mid-90's Francisco was also an analyst of distressed assets having participated in over US$ 1 billion of successful debt restructuring transactions. Francisco also boasts a rich history in the ferroalloys and silicon carbide industries. Along with Francisco's keen interest and poignant observations of the political landscape, the aforementioned experience makes him a perfect reporter for the happenings in Latin America with an emphasis on Brazil.
